Topographical Overview
Narrows Layout with Weapons & Equipment
Narrows is a long series of two bridges connecting a blue base to a golden red base. Besides the two bridges, there are two Mancannons- one on each side. Bright blue air jet streams will launch your Spartan into the air into your enemies’ base. Narrows is a symmetrical map with only a few variations on each side. The Red Base has a golden beam of light shooting out from it, as the Blue Base has a flowing waterfall.
1.Red Stage/Blue Stage
Other Names: n/a
The Stage is a lighted step up onto a platform on the very back of each base.
2.Man cannon
Other Names: n/a
Going right from Blue Stage, there is a ramp heading into the double paned glassy floors where you will find the Mancannon.
3. Landing Zone
Other Names: Needles
Past the Mancannon, on the small avenue to the right, hang left as you drop down and pass through the Landing Zone/Needles.
4. Powerup Tunnel
Other Names: Overshield Tunnel, OV Tunnel, OS, Invis, Camo Tunnel
Follow through the glassy path to a small tunnel with open beams and you’ll cross an Over shield. This is known as the Powerup Tunnel. One base has an Overshield, the other Actice Camo..
5. Flag Spawn
Other Names: n/a
Continue forward until the tunnel opens up onto another ramp, this leads you to the area known as Flag Spawn. In all flag objective games, this is where your team’s flag will spawn. You’ll pass a small ledge on your left hiding two fusion cores.
6. Flag Attic
Other Names: n/a
To your right, you’ll approach an archway from the Base that has a small ledge, which is climbable. This ledge is known as Flag Attic.
7. Base
Other Names: n/a
There are two paths from Flag to Base separated by a large chunky pillar. Once crossed, this steps you into Blue Base. Base is categorized as the area in front of stage, between the two pillars that is completely flat. Blue is the darker colored base and Red is the golden color.
8. Lobby
Other Names: n/a
Notice the incline as you head forward out of the Base, this leads us into Lobby Immediately after the horizontal structure, to the left and right of you, there are two smaller wedges on the floor. This is known as L3 on the Left Side, R3 on the right
9. Mohawk
Other Names: n/a
Moving forward from lobby, you head past a larger vertical structure that is pyramid shaped, known as Mohawk. Standing at Mohawk, there are two small curbs that open up to a pocket like drop into the bottom level. Being pocket like, they are nicknamed Pockets. The right side pocket closest to you is R1 followed by R2 heading into Red Base. The left side is then known as L1, L2.
10. Top Mid
Other Names: n/a
Remembering that Narrows is symmetrical, the callouts for both sides essentially are the same. Heading forward out of the Lobby from each Base, there’s another horizontal structure standing in front a fusion core. This marks the exact middle of Narrows, commonly called Top Mid. From your base, the short platform between L1 and L2 on the top level is Left Mid. Same goes for R1, R2- Right Mid.
11. Pockets
Other Names: R1/R2 and L1/L2
Standing at Mohawk, there are two small curbs that open up to a pocket like drop into the bottom level. Being pocket like, they are nicknamed Pockets. The right side pocket closest to you is R1 followed by R2 heading into Red Base. The left side is then known as L1, L2.
12. Bumpers
Other Names: n/a
Take the ramp down (L1) onto the bottom level. Facing back towards your base, there is another pair of wedges to your right and left known as Bumpers. Keep in mind throughout the game, all callouts concerning right and left are made when you spawn and look towards Top Mid. Even as we come down L1 into Bottom Mid and turn back towards Blue Base. The Bumper to your right is still Left Bumper; it goes for the one on your left. This may seem confusing at first; the trick is only remembering where you initially spawn. You will always drop down to L1 and approach Left Bumper. If you move left from L1, you will head into Bottom Mid.
13. Bottom Mid
Other Names: n/a
This is easily classified by the force field bridge that crosses from the Red Base to the Blue Base. Turning right from L1, passing the Bumpers, you head back to your Sniper Spawn.
14. Sniper Room
Other Names: Sniper
This seemingly open medium sized room is nicknamed Sniper due to the only feature in the room being the Sniper Rifle leaning against the back wall. Facing the Sniper, move left and you’ll approach a small walkway leading you back into the room with the Mancannon.
As we said before, Narrows has been made ultimately popular simply because of its mathematically smooth layout. When spawning in the Red Base, all callouts are mirrored opposite of the Blue Base. Instead of flowing right from Stage into Mancannon, you’ll take the ramp left. The only other variation is instead of an OS Tunnel wrapping around the bottom of Mancannon to Flag, there will be an Active Camo present making this the named “Invis. Tunnel”. Also called simply Invis. or Camo.
